About the role
The Nelune Centre is a leading specialist ambulatory cancer treatment service providing comprehensive care for patients with haematological and solid tumour malignancies. Operating Monday to Friday, the centre delivers chemotherapy, immunotherapy, clinical trial treatments, transfusion support, apheresis procedures and supportive care. The service comprises 16 treatment chairs, 4 treatment beds, 3 dedicated apheresis chairs and 2 additional apheresis machines located within the main hospital. In addition, the specialised apheresis service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through an on-call roster. The centre also supports a strong research portfolio, including Phase I clinical trials and pioneering cellular therapy programs.
Provide strategic, operational and clinical leadership for the Nelune Centre, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred cancer care across a complex ambulatory treatment service.
Lead multidisciplinary teams in the coordination of chemotherapy, clinical trials, transfusion support, apheresis and supportive care services, while maintaining efficient patient flow and operational excellence.
Drive service innovation, quality improvement and workforce development by fostering evidence-based practice, staff capability and collaborative partnerships across medical, nursing, pharmacy and allied health teams.
Oversee the management of a high-acuity cancer treatment environment, ensuring clinical governance, patient safety, workforce management, resource allocation and compliance with organisational and professional standards.
Champion strategic growth and organisational change by leading clinical redesign initiatives, supporting research and innovation, and adapting services to meet evolving patient, workforce and Cancer Services priorities.
About you
Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency.
Recognised post graduate tertiary qualification in haematology/oncology or management (or willingness to undertake same within 12 months) or equivalent relevant experience.
Demonstrated operational, financial, human resource, workplace health and safety and effective communication and interpersonal skills experience at departmental level.
Comprehensive understanding of clinical governance and current cancer nursing issues and demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in your daily practice.
Demonstrated experience in quality improvement principles, clinical policy and procedure development and implementation and ability to deliver, evidenced based, patient centred care within a complex environment.
