The Opportunity
Join our Confluence Maintenance team as a Mechanical Fitter, where you'll play a key role in delivering planned and reactive maintenance across Sydney Water's Network Sites and Wastewater Treatment facilities. In this hands-on role, you'll support the reliable operation of critical infrastructure across Sydney's Northern Region, servicing sites including palm beach Hornsby, Warriewood, Manly, Rouse Hill, Castle Hill and Riverstone.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanical trades professional to build a rewarding career in the water industry. You'll work on essential long-term maintenance programs, contribute to the delivery of vital community services, and develop your expertise within a supportive and safety-focused team.
We currently have two permanent, full-time positions in the Networks work area of operation available, working Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 3:00pm. As part of the role, you'll also participate in an on-call roster, providing after hours support for one week every 6 - 8 weeks.

Key Accountabilities
-
Carry out the maintenance, repair and servicing of a wide range of water and wastewater assets, including pumping stations, treatment plants, chemical dosing systems, generators, pumps, valves and associated mechanical equipment.

Perform planned preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults, complete repairs, conduct inspections, install equipment and carry out testing to ensure the reliable operation of assets.

Maintain compliance with all safety, environmental and operational standards while delivering high-quality maintenance outcomes.
About You

Hold a mechanical or electrical trade qualification, or an engineering qualification, with experience in the water and wastewater industry being highly regarded.

Possess a current and valid Class C driver's licence.

Demonstrate hands-on experience in pump and valve maintenance, with strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.

Have the ability to undertake physically demanding field-based work in a variety of environments.

Are resilient, adaptable and able to effectively manage competing priorities in a dynamic operational environment.

Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively within small trade teams.

Desirable to hold dogging competencies and a truck licence or have the willingness to obtain them.
