Grant Elevators is a growing independent lift company specialising in the installation, modernization, maintenance, and servicing of passenger and commercial elevator systems throughout Western Australia. Due to continued business growth and a strong pipeline of projects, we are seeking two experienced and motivated Elevator Installation Technicians to join our installation team.
This is a hands-on field role suited to a trade-qualified lift technician or suitably experienced fitter who takes pride in quality workmanship, safety, and delivering reliable outcomes for clients. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of elevator installation projects while developing your technical skills within a supportive and safety-focused environment.
About the Role
As a Lift Installer and Fitter, you will be responsible for the fitting, assembly, installation, adjustment, testing, maintenance, and repair of mechanical components associated with elevator and lifting systems. You will work from engineering drawings, technical specifications, and installation plans to ensure equipment is assembled and installed accurately and to required standards.
- Installation of machine-room-less (MRL) traction lifts, and rail installation
- Car and counterweight assembly including door systems, controllers, wiring and other associated mechanical components
- Study engineering drawings, specifications, and installation plans to determine materials, assembly methods, sequences of operation, and installation requirements.
- Fit, assemble, align, and install fabricated metal components, structures, and mechanical assemblies used in lift and elevator systems.
- Measure, inspect, and verify assembled components using precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy, tolerances, alignment, and fit.
- Adjust, troubleshoot, and test mechanical systems to achieve operational requirements and manufacturer specifications.
- Assemble and install hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical components where required.
- Diagnose faults and undertake maintenance, repair, and replacement of mechanical equipment and components.
- Work collaboratively with electricians, project managers, builders, and other trades to deliver installations safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all work complies with Australian Standards, project specifications, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Complete installation documentation, quality assurance records, and site reports as required.
- Participate in site commissioning activities and support project handover processes.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- Trade qualification related to Mechanical Engineering Trade, Fitter and Turner, or a closely related qualification.
- Alternatively, a minimum of three years of relevant industry experience in mechanical fitting, equipment installation, machinery assembly, elevator installation, or related fields.
- Experience interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to assemble, adjust, and install precision mechanical equipment.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and mechanical testing equipment.
- Ability to identify faults and perform mechanical troubleshooting and repairs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
Mandatory Requirements
- Current Western Australian Driver's Licence.
- Construction White Card.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment.
- Ability to pass Drug and Alcohol screening.
- National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain one).
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual handling and site-based installation work.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience installing passenger or commercial elevators.
- Experience working with European-manufactured elevator systems.
- Experience on construction sites and major commercial projects.
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP), Working at Heights, or Rigging tickets.
- Familiarity with Australian lift industry standards and practices.
