Finance Analyst — Job Description

Role summary

Provides financial analysis, reporting, and modelling to support business decisions, budgeting, forecasting, and performance measurement.

Key responsibilities

Prepare financial reports, variance analyses, and monthly/quarterly close support for managers and executives.
Build and maintain financial models for budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, and long‑range planning.
Analyze revenue, costs, margins, and KPIs; identify trends, risks, and opportunities; present insights and recommendations.
Support budgeting and forecasting cycles; consolidate inputs, reconcile assumptions, and track actuals vs. plan.
Produce dashboards and ad‑hoc analyses using Excel and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) to inform stakeholders.
Perform profitability and cost‑benefit analyses for projects, product lines, and initiatives.
Work with accounting to ensure accurate accounting treatment, accruals, and reconciliations.
Assist with month‑end close tasks, journal entries, and account reconciliations as needed.
Support financial planning processes including scenario modelling, cash flow forecasting, and capital expenditure evaluation.
Participate in cross‑functional projects (pricing, procurement, product launches) providing finance input and tracking outcomes.
Automate recurring reports and processes using scripting (SQL, Python) and query tools; improve data quality and reporting efficiency.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and support audit requests.

Qualifications

Education: BS/BA in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MS or CFA a plus.
Experience: 2–5+ years in financial analysis, FP&A, or related roles; senior roles typically 5+ years.
Technical skills: Advanced Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas), strong financial modelling, and accounting fundamentals.
Tools: Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP), SQL for data extraction, and BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
Analytical skills: Strong quantitative, problem‑solving, and attention to detail.
Communication: Ability to translate analysis into clear recommendations and present to non‑financial stakeholders.
Soft skills: Time management, teamwork, and ability to prioritize under deadlines.

Working conditions

Office or hybrid environment; regular deadlines around month/quarter close and budgeting cycles.
Cross‑functional collaboration with accounting, operations, sales, and product teams.

Performance metrics

Forecast accuracy and variance reduction.
Timeliness and accuracy of reports and analyses.
Impact of recommendations (cost savings, margin improvements).
Automation and efficiency gains in reporting processes.
