Working within a collaborative team, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing Council’s Geographic Information Systems, spatial data and mapping services that support informed decision-making across the organisation and community

About the Roles
GIS Analyst
The GIS Analyst is responsible for delivering specialized, accurate and high-quality spatial mapping, analysis and technical support services across the Council
Key responsibilities include:

Providing advanced spatial analysis and mapping services
-
Administering Council’s internal and public-facing GIS platforms to ensure information is accurate, relevant and up-to date
-
Managing and maintaining automated systems supporting section 10.7 Planning Certificates
-
Updating and maintaining Council’s property information systems and associated spatial datasets
-
Supporting business improvement initiatives through innovative GIS solutions and data management practices
GIS Officer
The GIS Officer supports delivery and maintenance of Council’s GIS services and spatial information systems.
Key responsibilities include:

Assisting in the administration and maintenance of Council’s internal public facing mapping systems
-
Maintaining spatial data sets and ensuring information remains current and accurate
-
Maintain and update Council’s Property Information System (PIS)
-
Analyse development applications and allocate street numbering for new developments in accordance with addressing guidelines and spatial accuracy requirements

Contributing to the ongoing improvement of Council’s spatial information services
About you
To be successful, in the GIS Analyst position, you will have:
-
Tertiary qualifications in Geographical information systems, Cartography, Spatial Information Science or experience operating in a similar role in other organisations.
- Demonstrated, extensive knowledge and experience using GIS software (such as Mapinfo).
- Demonstrated, extensive knowledge and experience with Property Information Systems (such as Pathway).
- Demonstrated ability to analyse technical problems and identify and implement appropriate solutions.
- A positive, professional and co-operative approach to working with others. Demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve organisational objectives.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Experience developing technical manuals, procedures, process mapping and providing user training.
- Experience with automating GIS tasks using FME or python
To be successful, in the GIS Officer position, you will have:
-
Qualifications in Geographic Information systems (GIS) such as diploma or relevant work experience. Demonstrated knowledge and experience using GIS software (such as Mapinfo).
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Property Information Systems (such as Pathway) Demonstrated ability to analyse technical problems and identify and implement appropriate solutions.

A positive, professional and co-operative approach to working with others. Demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve organisational objectives. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Experience developing technical manuals, procedures, process mapping and providing user training. High-level office administration skills, including meeting deadlines and working with minimal supervision.
