With the introduction of APRA Prudential Standard CPS 230 (Operational Risk Management) from 1 July 2025, we are investing in strengthening our operational resilience framework. About the role
As an Operational Risk & Controls Analyst , you will support the design, operationalisation and testing of uplifted controls aligned to CPS 230 across Retirement Solutions Operations. You’ll work closely with business units, IT and risk teams to assess risks, uplift controls, maintain client‑specific RACMs, and provide assurance through structured testing and reporting.
This role blends project delivery with hands‑on risk and control analysis , and is well suited to someone with experience across operational and IT risk environments who is looking to deepen their exposure to regulatory change.
Key responsibilities
- Support the implementation of the CPS 230 Controls Uplift Initiative, including analysis, design, build, implementation and testing activities
- Conduct risk and controls analysis, including design effectiveness assessments for new and uplifted operational and IT controls
- Build, maintain and uplift client‑specific Risk & Control Matrices (RACMs) , identifying gaps and tracking remediation
- Map existing and new controls into the GRC system , working iteratively with Line 1 and Line 2 Risk teams
- Develop and execute CSA test plans and test cases , coordinating additional testing with business and IT SMEs where required
- Perform assurance and control testing activities across Retirement Solutions and other business units
- Partner with stakeholders across Operations, Technology, Risk and CPS 230 project teams to embed sustainable controls
- Contribute to internal reporting and support the development of client‑facing CSA and assurance dashboards
What we’re looking for
- 2+ years’ experience in an operational risk, controls or risk analyst role
- Exposure to IT operations risk , technology controls, or technology‑enabled processes (highly desirable)
- Experience designing, assessing or testing controls, including control effectiveness testing
- Familiarity with RACMs, CSA programs and GRC tools
- Some experience in superannuation, financial services or regulated environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to explain complex risk concepts clearly
- Well‑organised, detail‑focused and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, change‑driven environment
