With a strong local following and a busy daytime trade, we pride ourselves on fresh food, consistent quality and a positive team culture. We’re looking for an experienced and reliable Cook to join our kitchen team and contribute to the continued success of the venue.

About the Role

As a Cook at Porgies, you’ll play an important role in delivering our breakfast and lunch menu to a consistently high standard. Working alongside our kitchen and front-of-house teams, you’ll help ensure smooth service, excellent presentation and a clean, safe and organised kitchen.

This role would suit someone who enjoys the pace of a busy café, takes pride in their food and works well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook breakfast and lunch dishes to Porgies’ recipes and presentation standards.
Manage your section efficiently during busy breakfast, brunch and lunch services.
Complete daily food preparation and ensure the kitchen is ready for service.
Maintain consistency in food quality, portioning and presentation.
Assist with receiving, rotating and correctly storing stock.
Monitor ingredients and communicate stock or preparation requirements to the kitchen team.
Follow food safety, hygiene, allergen and temperature-control requirements.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe workstation throughout each shift.
Minimise food waste and use ingredients responsibly.
Work collaboratively with chefs, cooks, kitchen hands and front-of-house team members.
Communicate effectively during busy service periods and contribute to a positive kitchen culture.
Assist with opening, closing and cleaning duties as required.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

Has previous experience working as a cook in a café, restaurant or similar hospitality environment.
Is confident preparing and cooking breakfast and lunch dishes.
Can work efficiently under pressure during busy café service.
Has a strong understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene.
Takes pride in presentation, consistency and attention to detail.
Is reliable, punctual and organised.
Communicates well and enjoys being part of a team.
Has a positive attitude and is willing to learn and develop.
Is available for morning and daytime shifts, including weekends as required.
