Casual Qualified Chef
Join our growing café kitchen team
We’re looking for a qualified, passionate and reliable Chef to join our kitchen team on a casual basis.
We’re a busy café with a strong focus on great food, quality service. We’re currently developing and improving our menu and kitchen systems, so this is a great opportunity for a chef who wants to be part of something that is moving forward.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work closely with our kitchen team across preparation and service, helping us deliver consistently great food to our customers.
Your role will include:
* Preparing and cooking food to a high standard.
* Completing daily mise en place and preparation.
* Working efficiently through busy breakfast and lunch services.
* Maintaining consistency in taste, presentation and portion sizes.
* Keeping your section clean, organised and service-ready.
* Following food safety and hygiene standards.
* Helping with stock rotation, deliveries and minimising food waste.
* Communicating effectively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams.
* Contributing ideas and feedback as we continue to improve the menu and kitchen.
* Supporting your fellow team members when service gets busy.
We’re looking for someone who
* Holds a relevant cookery qualification, ideally Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
* Has previous commercial kitchen experience.
* Is confident working independently but enjoys being part of a team.
* Can stay calm, organised and focused when the kitchen gets busy.
* Takes pride in the food they produce.
* Understands that speed and quality need to work together.
* Has strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
* Is reliable, punctual and takes pride in their work.
* Wants to contribute to a positive kitchen culture rather than simply turn up and do a shift.
