The Opportunity
As a Senior Financial Accountant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and reliability of Universal Store’s financial reporting and statutory obligations. Reporting to the Group Financial Accounting & Tax Manager, you’ll be a trusted technical expert within the Finance function, supporting both day to day operations and broader business initiatives.
This role suits someone who enjoys working in a fast paced, multi site retail environment, brings a strong attention to detail, and embraces our Better Than Good mindset, always looking for smarter, more efficient ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate weekly and monthly financial reports to support timely business decisions
Support the month end close process, including journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
Assist with annual budgeting, reforecasting, statutory reporting and variance analysis
Manage GST, FBT and income tax compliance, including returns and reconciliations
Maintain fixed asset registers and oversee capital expenditure processes
Monitor operating expenses and support strong financial governance across the business
Ensure accurate financial treatment of inventory movements and stock balances
Identify opportunities for process improvement while maintaining strong internal controls

We’re Looking For

CA or CPA qualified, with a relevant accounting degree
Strong financial accounting experience, ideally within a retail or multi site environment
Solid understanding of financial reporting, compliance and controls
Excellent analytical capability with strong attention to detail
Confident working with financial systems and large data sets
A collaborative working style with the ability to engage cross functionally
Adaptable, resilient and comfortable working in a fast moving environment
