Sands Fridge Lines is seeking an experienced and motivated Food Safety & Compliance Coordinator to join our team in a part-time capacity.
Reporting to the Compliance & Safety Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining, administering, and continuously improving the Company's Food Safety and Quality Management System across temperature-controlled warehousing, storage, distribution, and transport operations.
The successful candidate will help ensure compliance with SQF, HACCP, DAFF export requirements, customer requirements, legislative obligations, and internal standards. They will also support ongoing audit readiness and help strengthen a positive food safety culture across the organisation.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented food safety professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams to achieve excellence in compliance, documentation, verification, and continuous improvement.

- Maintain and support the Company's SQF Food Safety and Quality Management System.
- Assist with SQF certification, surveillance, recertification, customer, regulatory, and third- party audits.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP-based Food Safety Plans and prerequisite programs.
- Monitor the effectiveness of food safety controls, verification activities, and corrective actions.
- Support management review processes, trend analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support compliance with Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) export requirements applicable to meat, dairy, and other export-certified products.
- Assist in maintaining records and systems required to support export registered establishments and customer export compliance obligations.
- Monitor export-related documentation, traceability, chain of custody, temperature control records, hygiene controls, and verification activities.
- Assist with DAFF audits, regulatory inspections, customer export audits, and corrective action management.
- Support operational teams in meeting export food safety, cold chain, product integrity, and documentation requirements.
- Maintain document control systems, policies, procedures, work instructions, forms, and food safety records.
- Ensure food safety documentation remains accurate, current, controlled, and audit ready.
- Track non-conformances, corrective actions, and verification of close-out.
- Assist with internal audit programs, compliance inspections, and site verification activities.
- Monitor relevant legislative, customer, SQF, HACCP, and export requirement changes impacting food safety operations.
- Monitor hygiene, sanitation, housekeeping, pest control, allergen management, temperature control, calibration, and maintenance-related programs.
- Review cleaning, maintenance, temperature monitoring, calibration, and verification records for compliance.
- Support investigations relating to food safety incidents, customer complaints, product integrity concerns, and non-conformances.
- Participate in risk assessments, food safety reviews, and continuous improvement projects.
- Assist with supplier approval, service provider verification, and food safety-related documentation where required.
- Support food safety training, inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness programs.
- Promote a positive food safety and compliance culture across warehouse, transport, and support functions.
- Provide practical guidance to operational personnel on food safety, hygiene, export, and cold chain compliance requirements.
- Minimum two years' experience in a Food Safety, Quality Assurance, or Compliance role.
- Demonstrated experience working within an SQF-certified environment.
- Sound understanding of SQF Food Safety Code requirements.
- Practical knowledge of HACCP principles, GMP, and food safety management systems.
- Experience conducting or participating in internal, external, customer, regulatory, or third- party audits.
- Strong document control, record management, traceability, and verification skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage competing priorities.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Excel.
- Formal qualifications in Food Science, Food Technology, Quality Assurance, Compliance, or related discipline.
- Internal Auditor Training.
- Experience within transport, warehousing, cold chain, logistics, and food distribution.
- Experience supporting DAFF export registered establishments or customers operating within export meat and dairy supply chains.
- Understanding export certification, traceability, chain of custody, product integrity, and cold chain requirements for export food products.
- Experience with customer, regulatory, DAFF, SQF, or third-party food safety audits.
