About Your New Role
Based in Perth and working as part of our growing Engineering Services team, the Project Engineer will take ownership of assigned Custom Fabricated Fluid System Assembly Projects and jobs to drive them flawlessly from start to finish. You will be the thread that runs through the entire project lifecycle, from early opportunity qualification, through proposal and design, into production, fabrication and factory acceptance testing, and out to the customer site during construction and delivery.
This is a highly collaborative role. You will work closely with our Custom Solutions and On-Site Services teams, partner with Sales and Field Engineering to qualify and shape opportunities, and team up with our Application Engineers to own proposal generation, contribute to the design stage, and produce drawings that precisely match customer requirements. Once an opportunity becomes a project, you will see it through every stage, ensuring it is built to specification, tested to standard, and delivered in line with the agreed scope of supply and scope of works.
It is a semi-autonomous position that rewards strong planning, organisation and ownership, alongside genuine technical aptitude and the ability to build trusted relationships with customers and colleagues alike.
Key Responsibilities

Partner with the Sales and Field Engineering teams to qualify new opportunities, helping assess feasibility and shape scope from the earliest stage.
- Work alongside our Application Engineers to own proposal generation, interpreting customer specifications, contributing to concept design, and developing technically and commercially sound proposals.
- Play an active part in the design stage, collaborating with Application Engineers to generate P&IDs, general arrangement and 3D drawings that accurately reflect customer requirements.
- Take ownership of assigned projects once awarded, coordinating all deliverables and managing milestones from kick-off through to completion.
- Guide jobs seamlessly through production and fabrication, working closely with the Custom Solutions fabrication team to ensure systems are built to specification, on time and to Swagelok quality standards.
- Plan and coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of completed systems, ensuring functional and quality requirements are met before dispatch.
- Engage directly with customers during the construction phase, partnering with the On-Site Services team to ensure project requirements are delivered in line with the agreed scope of supply / scope of works.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, schedules and reporting, and compile QA documentation and Manufacturer’s Data Reports (MDRs) on completion.
- Champion continuous improvement, contributing to stronger systems, workflows and customer outcomes across Engineering Services.
What Will Make You Successful in This Role

A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process or Mechatronic Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years or more demonstrated experience delivering technical projects end-to-end, ideally involving fabricated assemblies or fluid / process systems.
- Strong project coordination skills – scheduling, milestone management, document control and stakeholder engagement.
- The ability to interpret customer specifications, scope of works and commercial terms and conditions.
- Confidence engaging directly with customers, including on-site during construction and commissioning phases.
- A collaborative, team-first approach, comfortable working across Sales, Engineering, Fabrication and On-Site Services.
- Strong planning, organisation and self-management in a semi-autonomous role.
- A genuine commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Experience
-
Mechanical design capability using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD, including the development of P&IDs and general arrangement drawings
- Experience in the oil & gas, mining, energy, resources or heavy industrial sectors relevant to the Western Australian market.
- Knowledge of fluid system products, components and vendors.
- Experience coordinating Factory Acceptance Testing and/or supporting site commissioning.
- Familiarity with project and business tools such as Microsoft Project, Monday.com, SAP, HubSpot and Power BI.
- Exposure to ISO 9001 or other quality-managed environments.
- An interest in using AI and digital tools to improve project delivery and efficiency.
