Full Job Description

Dum Ki Biryani is an authentic Indian restaurant specialising in traditional Hyderabadi biryanis and regional Indian cuisine. We are committed to delivering high-quality food, authentic flavours, and exceptional customer service. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Full-time Chef to join our growing kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare and present a wide range of authentic Indian dishes, including biryanis, curries, tandoori items, breads and regional specialities.
Coordinate daily kitchen operations to ensure efficient food preparation and timely service during busy trading periods.
Develop and refine recipes while maintaining consistency, quality, flavour and presentation standards.
Monitor ingredient quality, stock rotation and storage practices to minimise waste and maintain food freshness.
Estimate food production requirements and assist with purchasing ingredients and kitchen supplies.
Supervise and support cooks and kitchen staff by providing guidance on food preparation techniques and kitchen procedures.
Ensure all meals comply with food safety legislation, hygiene standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
Conduct quality checks on dishes before service to ensure they meet the restaurant's presentation and taste standards.
Assist in seasonal menu development and introduce innovative dishes while preserving authentic Indian cooking methods.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, equipment and food storage areas.

Essential Requirements

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Certificate IV in Asian Cookery, or equivalent qualification.
Minimum 1 year of relevant full-time experience as a Chef.
Strong knowledge of authentic Indian cuisine, particularly Hyderabadi biryani, tandoor cooking, curries and traditional spice preparation.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.
Excellent organisational, communication and teamwork skills.
Sound knowledge of Australian food safety and hygiene standards.

Pay: $78,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
