Full Job Description

Downer’s Rail & Transit Systems is the leading rail business in Australia, with expertise in delivering whole-of-life asset management support to our customers. With over 155 years of rail experience, we deliver innovative transport solutions that keep communities moving.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Welding Supervisor to join our team based at our Maryborough site ; you will provide a significant contribution to the implementation, monitoring and improvement of Welding activities required to be carried out to support the delivery of Passenger Rolling stock train sets.

About the role

Supervise welding activities as required
Review the weld specific technical requirements of rolling stock design to provide guidance on joint design, welding process, accessibility and sequencing.
Conduct audits on the Welding activities to ensure facility complies with the Weld Management System requirements.
Achieve and maintain welding performance KPI’s to support Production delivery.

About You

A minimum Qualification to:
IWS – International Welding Specialist or equivalent.
Welding Supervisor Certificate IAW AS 2214, AS 1796 Cert 10
IWT – International Welding Technologist preferred
IWE – International Welding Engineer

Skills and experience:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
Previous demonstrated experience in rail bogie and carbody manufacture and welding an advantage.
Has demonstrated experience in a Team Leadership/Supervision role.
Experience with Robotic Resistance and Mig Welding systems an advantage.
