Based out of Shed 2, this role will oversee all daily fabrication and maintenance operations within the workshop and ensure all work is completed in accordance with MPK policies, procedures and quality standards. This role will supervise the workshop team, promote a strong safety and quality culture, guiding the team to achieve right-fist-time outcomes. Working Monday to Friday, this role will -
Role Overview:
Shed Operations & Workload Management
- Ensure all activities on plant and equipment are carried out safely and in accordance with manufacturer and design specifications
- Supervise the workshop team, encouraging safe work practices and adherence to policies and procedures
- Oversee all day-to-day fabrication, maintenance, and refurbishment activities within the shed
- Manage daily and weekly work priorities, balancing competing scopes across WES and fleet requirements, and communicate plans, priorities, and impacts to relevant stakeholders
- Identify gaps, constraints, and resourcing issues early and escalate to the Business Unit Leader as required
- Ensure the workshop team has the right tools and equipment to perform tasks safely, effectively, and efficiently
- Provide coaching and leadership in best practice approaches to fabrication activities and mechanical input for new asset builds
- Ensure logistics Chain of Responsibility is maintained for all parts leaving and arriving at the yard/stores
- Assist in workforce supervision to:
- Uphold team welfare and morale
- Ensure adequate coverage during leave periods to maintain output
- Maintain high standards in technical
Quality Management & Welding Oversight
- Lead and enforce quality management within the shed, ensuring all fabrication and refurbishment activities comply with MPK policies, procedures, drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements
- Ensure traceability of all materials and consumables used in fabrication including recording material test certificates as required
- Oversee, coordinate, and complete welding and fabrication inspections, verifying compliance with approved WPS, Welder Qualification, ITPs, and inspection criteria prior to sign-off and release
- Drive the ITP and inspection process end to end, working with the QA Engineer to ensure inspections, hold points, approvals, and releases are planned and executed to maintain workflow and prevent standstills
- Ensure all quality documentation is properly managed, including job packs, weld records, inspection reports, and certification, ensuring records are accurate, up to date, traceable, and retained in accordance with MPK and regulatory requirements
- Champion a strong quality and compliance culture, leading by example to ensure procedures are followed and right-first-time outcomes are achieved to minimise rework and non-conformances
Project & Stakeholder Coordination
- Manage smaller refurbishment and modification projects from scope receipt through to completion, ensuring delivery aligns with agreed scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with the Business Unit Leader, Engineering, QA, and Procurement teams to ensure scope clarity, technical alignment, and timely availability of materials.
- Prepare budget estimates for projects.
- Prepare schedules for projects.
- Support procurement planning by identifying long-lead or critical items early and assisting with work sequencing to minimise delays.
- Monitor progress against agreed timelines and coordinate adjustments to plans as required to maintain delivery targets.

Skills and Experiences:
About you:
- Welding Supervisor – AS1796 Certificate 10 (highly desirable)
- Welding Supervisor – AS 2214 (desirable)
- IIW International Welding Engineer (IWE) (desirable)
- IIW International Welding Technologist (IWT) (desirable)
- IIW International Welding Specialist (IWS) (desirable)
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a similar role
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the construction, oil & gas or heavy maintenance industries
- Must be fully experienced with quality plans, ITP’s, procedures and project data books/material data records
- Knowledge of industry legislative requirements
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
