The role

You’ll be the go‑to expert for spatial data maintenance, GIS analysis, and quality assurance—helping the organisation deliver accurate, reliable and meaningful spatial information every day.
You’ll play a central role in strengthening the organisation’s spatial data capability through work that is both technically challenging and deeply rewarding.
What you’ll be doing
- Spatial Data Maintenance — Maintain and enhance spatial datasets using customised applications, with a strong focus on complex data corrections and continuous process improvement.
- Data Extraction & Mapping — Manipulate, analyse, and interpret spatial data to produce high‑quality maps and outputs for internal and external customers.
- Application Development Support — Assist in developing and testing spatial data maintenance and viewing tools that improve operational efficiency.
- Training & Documentation — Create and maintain training materials and support staff in using spatial systems and applications.
- Quality Control & Assurance — Review incoming spatial data, apply rigorous quality checks, identify emerging issues and contribute to solutions that enhance business processes.
- Database Querying — Run database queries to support reporting, project tracking, and spatial data request management.
- Reliable Information Delivery — Extract and deliver accurate, easy‑to‑interpret spatial information despite complex systems and datasets.
- Workload Prioritisation — Thrive in a fast‑paced environment where priorities shift and high‑quality output remains essential.

GIS Officer
About You
- Demonstrated experience in the use of GIS technologies to extract and analyse data.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of GIS training and/or provision of technical support to users.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to interpret spatial data and support informed decision‑making.
- Ability to manage competing priorities effectively and maintain composure in a high‑volume, fast‑paced operational setting.
- Demonstrated high level of accuracy and precision when working with complex spatial datasets and quality‑critical information.
- Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical information in a structured and accessible manner and provide guidance to users of spatial systems.
- Collaborative team member with the ability to work constructively with colleagues, share knowledge and contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
