About the Role
The role is to support the IRO by providing analysis, technical support and reporting services to facilitate its smooth running in alignment with the overall business and strategic requirements of the Office of the Independent Review Officer.
We are seeking a motivated and resilient person to join our team, someone to lead the design and implementation of conceptual, logical, and physical data models across IRO’s analytics platform (Databricks / Snowflake / Power BI). Convert complex operational systems - particularly Resolve (EAV) - into governed, scalable, high‑performance analytical datasets that support BAU reporting, dashboards, and future analytics needs.
The Senior Data Modeller plays a critical role in supporting the Independent Review Office (IRO) by designing and implementing high‑quality conceptual, logical and physical data models that underpin reliable insights, statutory reporting and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Working within the Systems & Support team, the role leads the modelling, structuring and governance of data across IRO’s cloud analytics environment (Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI). You will translate complex operational systems - including Resolve’s EAV structures - into trusted, scalable and analytics‑ready data assets that directly support IRO’s statutory functions: resolving complaints, administering ILARS, and informing inquiries into NSW workers’ compensation and motor accident schemes.
This role is ideal for someone who is technically strong, collaborative, and motivated to shape IRO’s enterprise data foundations. You will ensure that curated datasets, metadata, quality rules and lineage are robust, well‑documented and fit for purpose, enabling the organisation to deliver accurate insights, optimise service delivery and improve outcomes for injured people.

Demonstrated senior‑level expertise converting complex operational systems - specifically EAV or schema‑light platforms (e.g., Resolve - into normalised, high‑performance analytical models suitable for enterprise reporting and analytics.
-
Significant experience embedding data quality, reconciliation rules, and modelling standards into data pipelines and delivering models that support security, RBAC and privacy‑by‑design.
-
Experience designing curated layers, semantic datasets, and materialised views with strong metadata, governance, and lineage practices.
-
Strong Power BI experience, including optimising datasets for reporting and analytical workloads.
