Join Uniting’s Social Impact and Advocacy Directorate as our Media and Public Relations Manager and play a pivotal role in helping to shape and amplify the voice of one of Australia’s leading not-for-profit organisations.

Your Impact:
Working closely with and reporting to the Media and Public Affairs Lead, you will:
- Help develop and implement media strategies that positively position Uniting across traditional and digital platforms.
- Proactively identify media opportunities and maintain a calendar of events to drive brand visibility.
- Support the management of crises and issues, including maintaining a comprehensive media holding statement library.
- Act as an advisor on media strategy, supporting internal clients with thoughtful media management under agreed strategic direction
- Craft thought leadership pieces, features, and editorial content to position Uniting as a leader in social justice and advocacy.
- Manage media relationships, respond to media requests, and ensure Uniting is professionally represented.
- Collaborate on brand and marketing campaigns, ensuring media strategies align with our broader objectives.
- Provide weekly and monthly media coverage reports, keeping the organisation informed of key outcomes.
- Coordinate media training, ensuring Uniting spokespeople are prepared and confident in engagements.

What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- At least 7 years of media and public relations experience, ideally with a strong background in crisis and issues management.
- Established media relationships and a proven track record of proactive media management.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting speeches, talking points, and media releases.
- Strong experience working with multimedia producers to create content across diverse platforms.
- A deep understanding of both digital and traditional marketing.
- Flexibility to manage after-hours media duties when needed.
Bonus Points For:
- Journalism experience or media work within the NFP or government sector.
- Experience in delivering media programs focused on public communication and social justice.
