Position: Barista All-Rounder (Casual)
Shifts: Start times range from 3:30am to 1:30pm | Closing shifts finish by 6:30pm
Store Hours: Open 7 days, 365 days a year | 4:00am – 6:00pm

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role for experienced baristas who love great coffee, quality service, and being part of a down-to-earth team. At Taste My Bean, we don’t have ‘head baristas’—we work together across all areas of the café to keep things running smoothly. That means one day you might be on the machine, and the next you could be plating up food, taking orders at the window, or keeping the store sparkling clean.

We’re looking for someone who’s not just great with coffee, but also confident with people, quick on their feet, and ready to jump in wherever needed. You'll need to bring energy, reliability, and a strong team spirit to every shift.

This isn’t a stepping-stone role for those learning to make coffee. If you’re just starting out or hoping to become a barista, please apply for our Café Attendant role where we provide full in-house training. This position is specifically for skilled baristas ready to hit the ground running.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Barista-Specific Tasks:

Prepare barista-made drinks from the TMB menu, including hot coffees, iced drinks, and specialty beverages
Use, clean, and maintain coffee machines, grinders, and related equipment correctly
Ensure coffee quality, taste, and presentation meet TMB standards

All-Rounder Duties:

Take customer orders using the POS system or drive-through headset
Accurately process payments, handle cash, and give correct change
Prepare and assemble food items, including heating and packing orders
Clean all areas of the café, including floors, dishes, benches, and bathrooms
Maintain café stock and supplies, restocking fridges and shelves as needed
Operate the drive-through speaker and headsets to provide quick, clear service
Follow food safety, hygiene, and cleaning procedures
Support team workflow during busy periods

MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS

Previous barista experience (this is not a trainee position)
Strong spoken English ; clear verbal communication is essential for taking orders via drive-through headset and ensuring customers are understood
Confident interacting with both customers and team members in a busy café environment
Able to work within a large team and follow direction
Available to work across our operating hours, including early mornings, weekends, and public holidays
Physically able to stand for long periods and lift items up to 20kg
Able to follow TMB’s procedures for food safety, cleaning, and product preparation
Must have the right to work in Australia and be 16 years or older

PAY & BENEFITS

Taste My Bean pays all team members under the Food and Beverage stream of the Restaurant Industry Award 2020.

Barista All-Rounder: Level 2 (this role)
Café Attendant: Level 1
Weekly pay with applicable penalty rates
Paid team training and meetings
Staff discounts on all food and drinks
