About the Role
We are seeking skilled Application Developer who is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining a variety of multimedia and web-based assets. This includes websites, web pages, computer animations, audio and video content, graphic elements, interactive presentations, information kiosks, and web applications.
The role involves planning, designing, developing, testing, and managing websites and applications to ensure functionality, usability, performance, and an engaging user experience. Web Developers work with a range of programming and scripting languages, web development frameworks, authoring tools, Content Management Systems (CMS), and file transfer technologies.
Key Responsibilities:

Analyse business and system requirements and translate them into practical software and web application solutions.
- Design, develop, test, maintain and enhance web applications in line with functional and technical requirements.
- Write, maintain and modify application code using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and Liquid.
- Develop frontend and backend functionality across Shopify Plus, WordPress and other web-based systems.
- Identify technical limitations, inefficiencies and integration issues within existing applications and implement appropriate improvements.
- Develop and maintain integrations with third-party APIs, CRM platforms, payment services and other business systems.
- Build and maintain custom applications, scripts and automated workflows to support business processes.
- Test, debug, diagnose and resolve software defects, application errors and integration issues.
- Manage application testing and support the deployment of new features, updates and system improvements.
- Monitor application performance and operational metrics to identify opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement.
- Maintain development, staging and deployment environments and support CI/CD processes.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation covering application functionality, code, integrations, deployment procedures and system processes.
- Work with internal stakeholders to evaluate system requirements and provide technical recommendations for software improvements and upgrades.
- Implement appropriate application security practices, including secure API communication, access controls and protection of application credentials and business data.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks that may affect application performance, reliability and security throughout the software lifecycle.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional experience in web application or software development.
- Strong experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Experience with PHP and backend application development.
- Experience developing and maintaining applications using WordPress and/or Shopify.
- Experience working with APIs and integrating third-party systems.
- Experience with software testing, debugging and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of software development, deployment and version control processes.
- Ability to analyse business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
