About the role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Computer Network and Systems Engineer to support, maintain, and enhance our IT infrastructure and customer-facing systems. This role involves a combination of systems administration, network engineering, and advanced technical support, with a strong focus on POS, EFTPOS, ITL ENABLER and mission-critical environments. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and customers to ensure system reliability, security, and performance.

Salary Range: $75,000 to $85,000 plus guaranteed Superannuation
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Computer Network and Systems Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
· Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support to customers and internal users via phone, remote access, and on-site, ensuring timely resolution of complex system and network issues.
· Install, configure, test, and maintain computer hardware, operating systems, application software, system management tools, and POS-related platforms in line with business and client requirements.
· Design, analyse, and evaluate system and network architecture, including data models, integration diagrams, and technical specifications for enterprise and retail environments.
· Design, implement, configure, and support secure network infrastructure supporting POS systems, EFT terminals, fuel pump controllers, and ancillary retail systems.
· Install, integrate, configure, and troubleshoot EFT terminals and peripheral devices, ensuring reliable connectivity and seamless operation with POS systems.
· Configure, administer, and support servers, databases, and networked systems that underpin enterprise and retail operations.
· Monitor, test, and analyse system and application performance, identifying bottlenecks and working collaboratively with developers to implement optimisation and improvement solutions.
· Research, analyse, and monitor network infrastructure performance, capacity, scalability, and reliability to ensure optimal system availability and integrity.
· Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls, including system security, access control, backup procedures, disaster recovery plans, and redundancy strategies.
· Diagnose complex system and network faults, identify root causes, and deliver effective and sustainable technical solutions in accordance with best practices.
· Prepare, maintain, and update technical documentation, including system configurations, network diagrams, procedures, fault records, and change logs.
· Support operational and business needs by providing system and software training, organising equipment setup, responding to urgent or emergency technical issues, and adhering to IT service management, change, and release protocols.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills required:
· Relevant Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent and 3 years of experience or in absence of formal qualification six years of experience is required.
· Experience supporting ITL Enabler systems, including network, fuel pump configuration, and troubleshooting.
· Experience installing, configuring payment gateway, troubleshooting, and integrating EFT/payment terminals (e.g., Quest, Ingenico, Verifone, Pax) with POS systems.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and customer service skills with attention to detail.
· Understanding of IT change and release management best practices.
· Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
· Experience with ticketing systems such as Zendesk, ServiceNow, Jira, or similar.
· Knowledge of ITL Enabler forecourt management software and related hardware.
· Experience with client/server environments and databases (Pervasive/MySQL, HFSQL preferred).
· Strong problem-solving skills; programming knowledge is a plus.
· Ability to configure Windows networking and router settings for POS systems.
· Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle preferred, as occasional travel to client sites may be required for hardware installation and configuration.
