About the Opportunity

The Case Manager/Youth Coach role is based in the Frankston and provides case management support to young people who are at risk of becoming homeless or new to homelessness in the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula area. The role involves working alongside the young person to support them identify their own goals and to stabilise their housing situation or find their own independent accommodation.

About you

We are looking for someone who can:

Provide comprehensive outreach and case management support for young people and their families, within the Detour coaching framework.
Provide effective early intervention strategies for “at risk” young people and their families, in conjunction with the Detour team, partners and service providers.
Plan, deliver and co-facilitate group work initiatives.
Complete regular reporting, data collection, and record keeping.
Promotion of the program both internally and externally

Essential:

Bachelor of Youth Work, Social Work, or a related discipline.
4 year Degree with 1 year experience OR 3 year Degree with 2 years experience OR Associate Diploma with experience OR lesser formal qualifications with substantial experience OR sufficient expertise to undertake a range of activities
Significant experience in working with and providing casework to young people and their families, particularly within the context of early intervention and youth homelessness.
An understanding and experience with the youth homelessness sector and/or mainstream services, including knowledge of patterns, trends and systemic issues.
An understanding of key issues as it relates to youth homelessness and family breakdown.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other organisations in the education and welfare sectors, in formal and informal partnerships, to achieve client outcomes.
Extensive knowledge of casework principles.
Demonstrated capacity to deliver group work initiatives.
An understanding of the requirements for ensuring child safety.

Screening Criteria:

National Police check
Working with Children check and NDIS Worker Screening check or ability to obtain
Valid Victorian Drivers license
Right to Work in Australia
