The role
The purpose of the General Practitioner with Special Interest: Outpatient Care position is to improve timely access to secondary outpatient care for consumers and facilitate care between outpatient hospital and general practice by providing services within outpatient clinics with sub-specialty clinical teams.
This position works within a medical specialist led clinical team, under the professional guidance of the clinical director or another staff specialist from that specialty, to assist with the provision of outpatient services at Townsville Hospital.
PLEASE NOTE: There are multiple permanent part-time roles available, with variable hours (not out of business hours). Dermatology is a potential area of interest for one role.

Salary range: $91.84 - $106.39 p.h. (L13-L18)
4 weeks annual leave (pro rata) with 17.5% loading

Requirements:
Must have Registration as a Specialist Medical Practitioner in Australia and Fellowship with The Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
All applicants must be awarded SoCP by the THHS Credentialing and SoCP committee.
This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:
Experienced, well regarded GP with excellent communication skills. The ability to liaise, negotiate and problem solve.
Confidence and the ability to communicate and work with all levels of hospital and primary care staff including administration, nursing and specialist staff.
Proven clinical decision making and demonstrated understanding of quality improvement, and clinical governance.
Good oral, written and organisational skills are an advantage with the ability to be confident in public speaking.
Demonstrates flexibility, optimism and shows initiative.
Demonstrates a proactive approach and creates opportunities to progress health service innovation, system change with a desire to improve local service delivery.
Previous experience as a GP with Special interest will be highly regarded.
