About the opportunity
The current post is for a part time clinical and part time university appointment as a PHO and research fellow in vascular surgery. The appointee is expected to contribute to clinical sessions (out-patients, theatre, digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and in-patient management) approximately 10% of the time and academic activities (research, teaching, audit) 90% of the time.
The Unit is currently staffed by three staff Specialists and a part-time Academic vascular specialist, four full-time registrars, this post and two RMOs. The unit has established open and endovascular lists and currently undertakes over 700 procedures each year. Common procedures including lower limb revascularisation by endovascular, open and combined procedures; endovascular aneurysm repair; carotid endarterectomy; open aortic surgery; AV fistula creation and maintenance; other vascular access procedures for oncology and renal purposes; venous surgery; and diabetic foot procedures. The unit offers:
Well established easy access to digital subtraction angiography where currently approximately 500 procedures per year are performed by the department;
Open operating lists; regular out-patient sessions; an established vascular in-patient ward and access to ICU; a vascular laboratory with resident sonographers and established duplex imaging; easy access to a radiology department with CT and MRI imaging; out-reach services to Mackay.
Please note: This is a temporary part-time position, up to 12 months (45.6 hours per fortnight).
Role requirements
Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) qualifications (or equivalent).
Accepted into recognised vocational college training program relevant to the speciality.
If appointee is not accepted into a recognized vocational college training program - employment will only be as a Principal House Officer and remuneration will be at PHO Level per fortnight (L4-L7).

Salary range: $67.51 - $78.05 p.h. (L4-L9)
