About the Business

Medipaq is an Australian healthcare-related business providing products and services to support the needs of healthcare providers, organisations, and their clients. Operating within the healthcare sector, the business is focused on maintaining reliable service delivery, effective operational systems, strong customer relationships, and appropriate commercial and regulatory standards.

The nature of Medipaq’s operations involves ongoing financial transactions, supplier and customer accounts, purchasing and operational expenditure, payroll-related obligations, taxation requirements, and financial reporting. Effective financial management is therefore important to maintaining the accuracy, efficiency, and sustainability of the business.

As Medipaq continues to manage its business activities and financial obligations, the organisation requires a dedicated Accountant (General) to oversee accounting functions, maintain accurate financial records, support statutory compliance, and provide management with reliable financial information for operational and strategic decision-making.

About the Role

The Accountant (General) is a key professional position responsible for managing and supporting the financial, accounting, taxation, and reporting functions of Medipaq. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing financial and management reports, monitoring income and expenditure, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and ensuring the business meets relevant financial and statutory obligations.

The position requires strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills, together with a sound understanding of Australian accounting principles and taxation requirements. The Accountant (General) will work closely with management and relevant internal and external stakeholders to support financial control, operational efficiency, and informed business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in formulating, implementing, and reviewing accounting policies, financial procedures, budgeting processes, and internal financial control systems.
Prepare financial statements, management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and other financial reports for management and statutory purposes.
Examine operating costs, income, expenditure, financial performance, and business transactions to identify trends and provide relevant financial information to management.
Prepare and maintain taxation records and assist with BAS, GST, payroll-related reporting, superannuation obligations, and other applicable statutory requirements.
Maintain accounting systems, financial databases, general ledger records, and computer-based accounting systems to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable, process and review financial transactions, and perform regular account and bank reconciliations.
Analyse cash flow, expenditure, revenue, and financial performance to support budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and operational planning.
Maintain and review internal financial controls to safeguard business assets, improve financial accuracy, and support appropriate financial governance.
Liaise with external accountants, auditors, financial institutions, suppliers, payroll providers, and relevant regulatory authorities where required.
Provide management with financial analysis and reporting to support commercial decisions, operational planning, and ongoing business development.
Review financial records and transactions to identify discrepancies, reporting issues, or areas requiring corrective action.
Ensure accounting and financial activities are undertaken in accordance with relevant Australian accounting standards, taxation legislation, statutory requirements, and organisational policies.
Support payroll-related financial administration, including reconciliation of payroll records, superannuation, and associated financial obligations.
Assist management in evaluating financial performance and developing appropriate financial strategies to support sustainable business operations.

Requirements

Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline, or relevant experience where appropriate to the requirements of the occupation.
Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant accounting, financial reporting, or financial management experience.
Strong knowledge of Australian accounting principles, taxation requirements, GST, BAS, and financial reporting obligations.
Experience using accounting software and computer-based financial management systems.
Demonstrated ability to prepare and analyse financial statements, budgets, reconciliations, and management reports.
Strong analytical, organisational, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate financial records.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple accounting responsibilities and meet reporting and compliance deadlines.
Experience with payroll, accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance reporting is advantageous.
Ability to work effectively within a professional, operationally focused business environment.

Work Conditions

Full-time, ongoing position.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
