BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – TRANSPORT & LOGISTICS

Location: Thomastown, VIC
Industry: Transport & Logistics

A growing transport and freight company providing local, regional and interstate freight services, with a strong focus on reliable customer service and efficient freight solutions.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Business Development Manager to join our team and help drive the next stage of our growth.

About the Role

This is a hands-on business development position suited to someone who is confident speaking with customers, identifying opportunities and converting leads into long-term accounts.

Your primary responsibility will be to win new customers, increase freight volumes and develop strong ongoing relationships with existing and prospective clients.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and approach potential new customers across the transport and logistics sector
Generate new leads through cold calling, networking, referrals, email and face-to-face meetings
Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers
Understand customer freight requirements and recommend suitable transport solutions
Prepare and present quotations and service proposals
Negotiate pricing and commercial arrangements
Follow up leads and convert opportunities into new accounts
Identify opportunities to increase freight volumes from existing customers
Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities and customer activity
Work closely with the operations and administration teams to ensure a smooth customer onboarding process
Monitor market conditions and identify new areas for growth
Meet agreed sales and new-account targets

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

Experienced in business development, sales or account management
Ideally experienced in transport, freight, logistics or warehousing
Confident making cold calls and approaching new customers
Strong in communication and negotiation
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Results-driven and focused on achieving targets
Professional and confident when dealing with business owners and decision-makers
Able to build long-term customer relationships
Organised and capable of managing multiple leads and opportunities

Desirable Experience

Experience dealing with customers in industries such as:

Automotive & auto parts
Manufacturing
Warehousing & distribution
Wholesale
Retail
Industrial supplies
Building & construction
Agriculture
E-commerce
General freight

Transport and logistics industry experience will be highly regarded.
