Pen Underwriting is seeking an Underwriter to join our Liability team, specialising in our Aged and Community Care products.

The Role:
As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for

Assessing and underwriting new business and renewal submissions across Liability, Professional Indemnity and Management Liability lines, in accordance with Pen Underwriting guidelines.

Evaluating risks by reviewing broker submissions, insureds' operations, risk controls, financial position, and relevant policies, procedures and certifications.

Applying underwriting expertise to risk assessment, claims history analysis, pricing and coverage decisions across new and existing Liability accounts.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers to drive new business opportunities and maximise renewal retention.

Support efficiencies and process improvements in the team

Collaborating with underwriters across other product lines to strengthen broker relationships and identify growth opportunities.
What You’ll bring:
To succeed in this role, you'll bring a positive, proactive attitude along with:

At least 2 years' underwriting experience, preferably in Liability, Financial Lines or Management Liability.

Strong time management, organisational and prioritisation skills.

The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail capabilities.

Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with brokers, agents and clients.

Sound risk assessment skills and the ability to make underwriting decisions within delegated authority.

A good understanding of Australian insurance regulations and compliance requirements.

Proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
