About the role:

The Analyst supports a small team of operational members by providing analytical support to case officers, investigators and management to ensure the protection of members of the community. They participate in intelligence gathering functions, presentation of intelligence briefings and evaluations on criminal activities likely to impact the safety of the community. They use a wide range of avenues of enquiries to validate information during the preparation of intelligence products including threat and risk assessments, intelligence briefs and target profiles.

Victoria Police is a contemporary and agile workplace that supports flexible working arrangements. The team however works in a covert environment and due to the sensitive nature of data utilised, the team are reliant on systems that are inaccessible outside the office. As such, there is a requirement for the analyst to work predominantly within the office as working from home is impractical.

Your duties will include:

Accessing and utilising a variety of computer systems and applications to collect and effectively manage, maintain, prepare and deliver intelligence and information to monitor the safety of members of the community.
Utilising complex analytical techniques and systems to monitor, identify and assess risks.
Learning and utilising new systems to effectively manage the security of information.
Developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enable the sharing of intelligence.
Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of developments and initiatives relevant to intelligence analysis and systems aimed at identifying customer needs and improving operational services.
Using discrete online investigation techniques to obtain information relevant to operations.
Utilising facial recognition technology to support operational priorities.
Supporting the information management and security requirements of the office.
Completing other tasks as directed and working at other locations as required.

About You:

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

Proven experience in the field of intelligence analysis or similar.
Advanced skills or training in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint
Experience using Victoria Police systems and analytical tools such as LEAP, Interpose, NEO, GAS, SAS and Analyst Notebook (highly advantageous).
Tertiary qualifications in a related field of criminology, criminal justice or criminal intelligence (highly advantageous).

Further Information:

One (1) full time, ongoing position available.
Your usual place of work will be within the State Intelligence Division, Intelligence & Covert Support Command at 311 Spencer Street, Docklands. You may be required to work at any other division within the Intelligence & Covert Support Command as required.
Your usual hours of work will by 8am-4pm, Monday to Friday. The office supports a flexible working arrangement and scheduling variations are possible to support work life balance and operational needs on negotiation between management and the successful applicant.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
The successful candidate is required to have completed, or complete within 18 months from enrolment, the modules of a Victoria Police approved Intelligence Program relevant to the role as determined by the Region / Department / Command.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
