About the role:

The Senior Communications and Engagement Adviser sits within the Corporate Communications and Engagement team, and is responsible for delivering a range of high-quality internal and external communications and engagement strategies and actionable plans in line with the department's strategic priorities.

Reporting into the Head of Corporate Communications and Engagement, you will work closely with branch colleagues, ministerial offices, department executives and relevant business areas within the department to ensure communications material is clear, engaging, timely, and aligned to the department's strategic narrative and plan.

About you:

Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating innovative and integrated communications and engagement campaigns or strategies for target audiences using best practice communication and engagement skills, tools and techniques.
Think strategically, effectively manage risk, and engage multiple stakeholders in a dynamic environment - with a particular focus on negotiating, influencing and managing senior stakeholders for improved communication outcomes.
Strong experience managing a busy editorial schedule for internal and corporate communication channels including understanding the experience of leading content for an intranet and EDM platform and supporting other team members through the editorial cycle is highly desirable.

Qualification:

A tertiary qualification in fields related to communications, media or associated disciplines would be advantageous.

Specialist Expertise:

At least five years' experience in strategic communications and engagement or similar.
Demonstrated ability to rapidly understand the health sector and system and the role of communications in the context of the public service and health sector, including how it relates to the operation of government.
