Senior Adult Acute Mental Health Social Worker

Temporary full-time | 5 weeks annual leave + monthly day off included

About the role

As the Senior Social Worker, you will bring extensive experience, knowledge, and expertise in acute mental health, while demonstrating emerging leadership capabilities through proactive engagement with the Social Work service and multidisciplinary teams. You will work collaboratively with social workers to support their professional development and build workforce capability, enabling the delivery of high-quality clinical services to consumers, carers, families, and other stakeholders within a recovery-oriented framework.

Services are tailored to support individual recovery and may include psychosocial assessment and intervention, individual and group work, discharge planning, consumer and family education, single-session family work, and liaison with internal and external services and programs as required.

You will possess strong clinical expertise, professional knowledge, and leadership skills, enabling them to provide high-level support, consultation, and guidance to both social work and multidisciplinary teams. Through this role, they will promote social work professional values, uphold best-practice standards, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality social work services within a mental health setting.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:
Holds a degree qualification in Social Work that has been approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) for membership as a social worker. Maintains compliance with the AASW Continuing Professional Development Policy to meet the Eastern Health Allied Health credentialing standard
A strong commitment to high-quality care, demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation, policies, plans and strategic directions of public mental health services.
Demonstrated social work, leadership and management skills as evidenced by 5-7+ years post-qualifying professional experience.
Strong conceptual skills to provide high-level advice to the Allied Health Manager, Social Work Clinical lead and program manager on program, practice and policy matters.
Demonstrates the ability to undertake risk management across the continuum of care.
Demonstrated high-level skills in supervising and coaching Social Workers, Social Work students and others.

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role, and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
