Primary objective
The position is responsible for leading and supporting nursing and midwifery programs for the Office of the Chief Nursing and Midwifery
Officer (OCNMO) to support nursing and midwifery workforce policy frameworks and strategy, engagement mechanisms and systems,
attraction and retention innovation and major nursing and midwifery events.

Context statement
Using strong leadership and program management experience, the role establishes and develops sector-wide networks to drive
contemporary, sustainable nursing and midwifery reform, workforce attraction and retention. The position collaborates with NT Health
Regions and Corporate Communications to deliver events, communications, and multi-media strategies, supporting NT Health as an
employer of choice. It leads key recruitment initiatives, including the Graduate Nursing and Midwifery Programs, specialty advertising, and
recognition programs. Operating with a high level of autonomy, the role reports to the Senior Director Nursing and Midwifery (Strategic
Workforce) for all OCNMO-managed programs.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide strategic advice and operational support to the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer and agency’s executives on complex non-

clinical issues related to nursing and midwifery workforce.
2. Manage systems and processes to support nursing and midwifery workforce programs.
3. Manage the preparation and co-ordination of reports, presentations and guidelines / procedures that relate to nursing and midwifery

workforce retention and attraction programs. Monitor national Nursing and Midwifery workforce reform and policy, actively
participating in a range of program initiatives and environments where workforce policy change and reform is required.

4. Engage and work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on the actions identified in the Nursing and Midwifery Workforce
Strategy.

5. Oversee and manage the media, communications and successful delivery of events on behalf of the CNMO.
6. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in

order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
7. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated knowledge of best practice in the development and implementation of workforce policies, programs and strategies,

ideally in the Nursing and Midwifery context.
2. Demonstrated experience in successful program management including portfolio oversight, governance frameworks, risk management,

benefits realisation and performance reporting.
3. Proven ability to operate autonomously, efficiently and reliably to meet deadlines, as well work in collaboration within the OCNMO

environment.
4. Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate strategic

culturally sensitive workforce outcomes.
5. Demonstrated success in engaging stakeholders, negotiating systems and processes, and implementing strategic workforce alignment

across regions.

Desirable
1. Degree in Human Resources, Business, Management or related field.
