Seeking a permanent part time Medical Secretary

About the role:

Hawthorn Eye Clinic is seeking a part-time Medical Secretary to join our team in Kew, Victoria. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to our Ophthalmologists, ensuring the smooth running of our busy and fast paced medical practice.

What you'll be doing:

- Greeting and welcoming patients, and managing enquiries and bookings via phone calls, emails and in person.

- Maintaining accurate patient records and medical history

- Scheduling appointments and surgical bookings

- Liaising with hospitals, Anaesthetist groups and other health care providers

- Handling medical correspondence

- Assisting with billing and payments, claiming to Health Funds and Medicare

- Providing a high level of customer service to our patients

- Performing other general administrative duties as required

What we're looking for:

- Previous experience as a medical secretary or in a similar administrative role within a healthcare setting is preferred

- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and professional manner

- Knowledge of ZEDMED and standard office applications would be an advantage

- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and attention to details

- A genuine interest in the healthcare industry and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care

- High flexibility with work arrangements
