We are seeking experienced Anaesthetic and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurses to join our Casual Nurse Bank, supporting our specialist Perioperative Services.

About the Role
As a member of the Casual Nurse Bank, you will provide specialist nursing care within our Anaesthetic and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), supporting a broad range of oncological surgical procedures.
Working alongside anaesthetists, surgeons and the multidisciplinary perioperative team, you will contribute to the delivery of safe, high-quality care throughout the perioperative journey, including:
Providing skilled nursing care during the anaesthetic phase of surgery
Delivering comprehensive patient assessment, monitoring and recovery care in PACU
Recognising and responding promptly to deteriorating patients
Supporting safe recovery from anaesthesia using evidence-based practice
Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to ensure exceptional patient outcomes and experiences
Maintaining high standards of patient safety, infection prevention and clinical documentation
This role is suited to experienced perioperative nurses who are confident working in a fast-paced tertiary hospital environment and are committed to delivering outstanding patient care.
What You'll Need
Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
Minimum 12 months' recent Anaesthetic and/or PACU nursing experience in a tertiary acute hospital is essential
Demonstrated competence in caring for patients undergoing general, regional and monitored anaesthesia
Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and organisational skills
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Competence using electronic medical records and digital clinical systems
Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care
Up-to-date immunisation status
Availability to work a minimum of 3–4 weekday shifts per fortnight is essential. Preference will be given to applicants who can offer regular, ongoing availability across Monday to Friday.
Highly regarded:
Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing (Anaesthetics and/or PACU)
Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification

Position Summary
As a Registered Nurse at Peter Mac you are responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating evidence-based nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal healthcare outcomes for our patients.
The Registered Nurse is a key member of the health care team responsible for ensuring nursing professional, organization, legal and ethical standards are met. The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and delegating to other health care professionals such as Enrolled Nurses and Registered Undergraduate Students of Nursing (RUSON).
The Nurse Bank role is a flexible role that sees the staff member working across multiple departments within Peter Mac at Parkville or our radiotherapy sites at Box Hill or Moorabbin.
Allocation of shifts to Nurse bank staff will be managed by the Peter Mac Nursing Workforce Unit. Shifts will be allocated according to organisational need based on staff requirements, submitted availabilities and confirmation of booking.
