Reporting to the Finance Manager, this exciting opportunity is ideal for an experienced and motivated accounting professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality financial and management accounting services within a purpose-driven organisation.
This position is offered as a Part-time, Fixed Term appointment at 0.6 FTE, equivalent to 22.5 hours per week, contracted until 31st October 2027, with the possibility of extension subject to organisational requirements and continued funding.
The successful candidate must be available to work across 3 or 4 days per week, including Thursday, with other days negotiable.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Management Accountant is responsible for delivering high-quality financial and management accounting services that support informed decision-making across the organisation. The role works collaboratively with managers and key stakeholders to ensure effective budgeting, reporting, compliance, contract management, and financial governance.
This position will support strategic business objectives through the provision of accurate financial information, robust financial controls, and ongoing enhancement of financial systems and processes. The successful candidate will also provide oversight and support to finance operations, including payroll, grant funding management, reporting obligations, and audit preparation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver accurate and timely financial and management accounting services to support organisational decision-making.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, financial reports, statutory reporting, and annual audits.
- Monitor and report on grant funding, financial performance, and compliance with funding agreements.
- Partner with managers across the organisation to provide financial advice, insights, and budget support.
- Support the ongoing improvement of financial systems, processes, and internal controls to enhance organisational efficiency.
- Provide oversight and support across finance operations, including payroll, accounts, reconciliations, and asset management.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, legislation, organisational policies, and information security requirements.
SELECTION CRITERIA – ESSENTIAL

Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of four years’ accounting experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in financial and business information systems, including strong Excel skills, with a proven ability to extract, analyse and interpret complex financial data and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to support the Finance team and other staff in their roles and liaise with external stakeholders.
- Ability to provide financial and management accounting services to a high standard in accordance with relevant legislation and standards and the primary duties as stated.
- Proven capacity to prioritise and work to tight timelines as well as display initiative and work effectively and efficiently with or without supervision; a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to obtain outcomes in an autonomous environment.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and manage workflows of self to achieve defined performance indicators.
- Contribute to the leadership and good governance of GCPHN in delivering its strategic goals.

CA or CPA qualified
- Experience using Microsoft D365 Business Central
- Commercial accounting experience

Remuneration package: $64,560 to $70,281 per annum (pro-rata), based on 0.6 FTE (22.5 hours per week). Full-time equivalent salary range is $107,601 to $117,137per annum plus superannuation
