Full Job Description

Benesse is a well-established café group operating across the South West of Western Australia. Our stylish and busy venues are committed to offering carefully curated, locally sourced food and delicious drinks with exceptional service.

We are currently seeking experienced and motivated individuals to join our Australind team across two full-time, permanent positions.

POSITION: COOK

ANZSCO Code: 351411

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: 38 hours per week (guaranteed)

Location: Australind, Western Australia

Salary: $71,550 per annum (full-time equivalent)

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare, cook and present a range of café menu items in accordance with recipe specifications and quality standards
Assist with seasonal menu planning and development under the direction of the Head Chef
Ensure all food preparation and storage complies with food safety and hygiene legislation
Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering and take action to minimise food wastage
Safely operate and maintain all kitchen equipment and report faults promptly
Work cooperatively with kitchen and front-of-house team members during service
Maintain accurate records in accordance with HACCP food safety plans

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum 2 years' experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen environment
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification; relevant trade experience also considered
Current Food Safety Supervisor certificate, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
Demonstrated knowledge of HACCP principles and food hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service periods
Applicants must have the right to work in Australia

Salary: $79,500 per annum (full-time equivalent)

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, prepare and oversee the production of all menu items to the highest quality standards
Develop and update menu items in line with seasonal availability, cost targets and customer preferences
Supervise, train and mentor kitchen staff, including rostering and performance management
Monitor and control food and labour costs, wastage and inventory in line with budget targets
Ensure full compliance with food safety legislation; maintain and audit HACCP documentation
Liaise with management regarding menu strategy, kitchen operations and supplier relationships
Maintain a safe, clean and organised kitchen environment at all times

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience as a qualified Chef in a commercial kitchen
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent trade qualification
Demonstrated experience in a senior or supervisory kitchen role
Strong working knowledge of food safety legislation, HACCP systems and compliance obligations
Excellent organisational, communication and team leadership skills
