About the Role:

Are you an experienced workplace relations professional with a strong understanding of Australian employment law, industrial relations and the National Employment Standards? Join Curtin University and play a key role in delivering expert advice, resolving complex workplace matters and supporting fair, compliant people outcomes.

Working as part of a collaborative People and Culture team, you'll partner with leaders across the University to provide strategic workplace relations advice, manage complex employee matters and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Provide expert advice on workplace relations, employment legislation and Curtin's Enterprise Bargaining Agreement.
Manage complex employee relations matters, investigations, disputes and mediations.
Partner with leaders to resolve workplace issues and achieve practical, compliant outcomes.
Support enterprise bargaining and contribute to policy development and best practice.
Collaborate with Health & Safety and the Integrity Standards Unit on psychosocial and workplace risk matters.
Build trusted relationships with stakeholders across the University.

We’re looking for someone with a passion for creating a positive workplace culture and ideally, someone who has completed a relevant legal qualification or brings a strong blend of training and experience in the field.

Your responsibilities will include:

The Senior Advisor will be responsible for offering specialist advice and support, in turn fostering productive engagement and relationships with university stakeholders. This will include managing complex issues and complaints, interpreting our University’s Enterprise Bargaining Agreement, and providing support to the University’s Enterprise Bargaining team to ensuring quality solutions in these cases.

The Workplace Relations Team sits within our wider People and Culture division, supporting through expert people policy development, providing advice to the team and the diverse range of managers and leaders across the Curtin network.

Who we are looking for/Selection Criteria:

Demonstrated experience in workplace and industrial relations within a complex organisation.

Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, industrial instruments and enterprise agreements.

Excellent negotiation, investigation and conflict resolution skills.

Outstanding communication skills with the ability to provide clear, practical advice.

A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering exceptional stakeholder service.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Law will be highly regarded. Qualifications in IR, HR or related fields may be considered.
