Remuneration: Salary $92,279.20 to $99,294.00 per annum.
Hours of work: Monday to Friday - 8.15am to 4.21pm with 30mins lunch break
Employment Type: Full-time, fixed term position (subject to funding)
Superannuation: 12%
Leave Entitlement: 6 weeks per annum plus 17.5% leave loading
Reports To: Data Manager
Closing date: 22 July, 2026
Probationary Period: 6 months.
Salary Packaging: Equivalent salary range with packaging approx. $96,819 to $103,517 per annum. As a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) NAAFLS can offer up to $15,899 per annum of the salary, Tax-free as a fringe benefit (conditions apply).
Personal/Carer's Leave: 15 days per annum.
Equipment Supplied: Laptop, Mobile phone, Uniforms.
Additional Benefits: Time off in Lieu of Overtime, Travel Allowance, Annual individual training budget, Paid parental leave applicable to Primary or Secondary Carer (6 weeks' paid after 12 months service), Study Leave.
Mandatory Employment Requirements: Obtain a working with children clearance (WWCC), Obtain a satisfactory Criminal History Check.

ABOUT NAAFLS

NAAFLS is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) and independent Family Violence Prevention Legal Service (FVPLS).

We have offices in Darwin (Larrakia land), Katherine (Jawoyn, Dagoman and Wardaman land) and Nhulunbuy (Yolŋu land), and service over 40 remote communities within the Top End region spanning from the Tiwi Islands down to Lajamanu, Wadeye across to Borroloola. Regular travel to these communities is predominantly in line with the Darwin and Katherine Court Circuit calendars and requires our teams to stay overnight on community for up to two trips of 2-4 days per month.

We provide culturally sensitive legal advice, assistance, representation, and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Top End communities who have experienced domestic, family, and sexual violence.

We offer the unique opportunity to work collaboratively within a team comprising a solicitor and case workers, to ensure that our service is culturally safe and holistic. This holistic and culturally appropriate model of service sets us apart; seeking practical community-based solutions to the most complex legal problems and ensures our vulnerable clients are fully supported throughout their journey.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Data & Insights Officer reports to the Data Manager and is responsible for supporting organisational data systems, reporting, and information management across multiple programs and service areas within NAAFLS. The role supports the collection, extraction, analysis, and reporting of data to assist operational requirements, funding and compliance reporting, service delivery, and organisational planning.

The position provides practical support to staff in the use of organisational systems, reporting tools, and information management processes, including client management and reporting platforms such as Actionstep and DEX. The role also contributes to maintaining data quality, system integrity, reporting accuracy, and continuous improvement of organisational systems and processes.

The Data & Insights Officer works collaboratively with staff and managers across the organisation to support reporting requirements, identify data and system issues, and develop practical reporting and information management solutions that support organisational and program outcomes.

DUTIES

Support organisational reporting requirements across multiple programs, including internal reporting, Board reporting, and reporting to funding bodies and other stakeholders.

Assist staff in the effective use of organisational systems, including Actionstep, DEX, and other reporting or case management platforms.

Provide practical support and troubleshooting assistance to staff in relation to data systems, reporting processes, and information management.

Support administration and maintenance functions within organisational systems, including user access, permissions, system configuration, and data integrity tasks.

Extract, compile, clean, and analyse data from a range of systems and sources to support operational and reporting needs.

Assist with the preparation, validation, and submission of funding, compliance, and contractual reporting requirements, including data templates, reporting uploads, and quality assurance processes.

Develop clear, accurate, and meaningful reports, dashboards, and data summaries for a range of audiences.

Support continuous improvement of data systems, reporting processes, and information management practices across the organisation.

Contribute to the development and improvement of reporting tools, dashboards, workflows, forms, and system processes to support organisational and program needs.

Work collaboratively with program teams and managers to identify reporting needs and improve data quality and consistency.

Assist in maintaining data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with organisational and funding requirements.

Contribute to the development of practical tools, templates, and processes that improve data collection and reporting outcomes.

Support staff capability and confidence in using organisational systems and reporting tools through guidance, training, and knowledge sharing.

Contribute to projects and initiatives relating to systems improvements, reporting enhancements, and organisational processes.

Support organisational projects, strategic reporting initiatives, audits, and ad hoc data requests as required.

Undertake other reasonable duties as requested by the Data Manager.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

Demonstrated experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO), not-for-profit organisation, community services environment, or similar sector.
Demonstrated experience in data collection, extraction, cleansing, reporting, and information management.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, data manipulation, and reporting functions.
Skills in, or the ability to quickly learn, reporting and visualisation tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
Experience supporting staff to use systems, processes, or reporting tools in a practical and user-focused way.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical or data-related information clearly to non-technical users.
Ability to translate data into meaningful and practical information for teams and stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality.
Ability to manage competing priorities, work collaboratively across teams, and adapt to changing organisational needs.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Understanding of culturally safe practice working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Must obtain a Working with Children Clearance and a satisfactory Criminal History Check.

Desirable

Experience using systems such as DEX, Actionstep, Power BI, or similar reporting and case management platforms.
Experience contributing to system improvements, reporting enhancements, or process development projects.
Qualifications or experience in areas such as research, policy, information management, IT, community services, business administration, or related fields.
