We are seeking a Senior SQL Server DBA to modernize and secure a large SQL Server estate. You will remediate vulnerabilities, upgrade legacy SQL Server to supported versions and validate performance post-migration. If you enjoy solving complex stability and security challenges with clear runbooks and low downtime, this role is for you.
Responsibilities

Lead vulnerability assessment triage and remediation for SQL Server environments
- Apply security patches, cumulative updates and service packs with controlled change execution
- Plan and deliver upgrades and migrations from legacy SQL Server to supported versions with minimal downtime
- Run pre-migration checks and compatibility analysis using approved migration tooling
- Benchmark workload performance, validate post-upgrade behavior and resolve regressions
- Configure and migrate high availability and disaster recovery setups to maintain resiliency
- Produce deployment plans, rollback procedures and operational runbooks for audits and change control
- Maintain SQL Server inventory, version lifecycle tracking and modernization roadmap inputs
Requirements

Production SQL Server administration with a track record of patching and upgrade delivery
- SQL Server architecture knowledge across legacy and current versions
- High availability and disaster recovery experience including Always On Availability Groups, failover clustering, log shipping and replication
- Security hardening capability including access controls, vulnerability remediation and encryption practices
- T-SQL scripting skills for troubleshooting, tuning and operational automation
- PowerShell automation experience for repeatable DBA tasks and deployment support
- Performance tuning background including baseline benchmarking, bottleneck analysis and plan regression handling
- Clear communication for change management, documentation and stakeholder updates
