The Opportunity
We are seeking a Studio Project/ Commercial Lead to join our leadership team. While the final title will be determined based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate, this role will play a key part in supporting the successful delivery, commercial performance and sustainable growth of our project portfolio.
This newly created role sits at the intersection of project delivery, commercial management, governance and studio operations, helping connect strategy with day-to-day project outcomes.
Partnering closely with Studio Directors, Project Leaders and Hub Leadership, you will strengthen project performance, commercial outcomes and operational effectiveness across the studio. As a trusted adviser, you will provide leadership across project strategy, forecasting, contract management, governance, commercial decision-making and continuous improvement.
Through this role, you will enable our design teams to focus on exceptional client outcomes and design excellence, while ensuring projects are commercially sound, well governed and operationally supported.
Internally, this position is aligned to approximately Senior Associate level, reflecting its influence, leadership responsibilities and impact on studio performance.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead commercial performance, forecasting and reporting across the Sydney project portfolio.
- Review contracts, identify commercial risks and support effective risk management.
- Lead tenders, proposals and fee development to ensure commercially robust project setup.
- Strengthen project governance, delivery oversight and project management consistency.
- Partner with leaders on resource forecasting, workforce planning and operational priorities.
- Support client and consultant relationships through clear commercial advice and project insight.
- Champion IMS, compliance and continuous improvement across studio processes.
- Coach Project Leaders and senior team members to build commercial capability and confidence.
About You
You are a commercially astute project and operations leader who enjoys partnering with people to create clarity, improve performance and achieve strong outcomes.
You will bring:
- Strong commercial, financial and analytical capability.
- Experience in a project-based consulting, design, engineering, construction or professional services environment.
- Confidence reviewing contracts, managing commercial considerations and identifying risk.
- The ability to influence, coach and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and project teams.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving and decision-making.
- A collaborative leadership style, with a focus on accountability, continuous improvement and shared success.
You may come from a design background and be looking to leverage your project delivery experience to shape studio performance and business outcomes at a broader level. Alternatively, you may be an experienced commercial, project management or operations professional who enjoys partnering with creative teams to deliver exceptional client, project and business outcomes.
