About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a dynamic Assistant Project Manager to support the planning, execution, and reporting of our diverse project portfolio in the Innovation, Science & Technology Program.

Working closely with the Innovation, Science & Technology Project Manager and a collaborative team, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of innovation across the organisation.

Responsibilities

Support the delivery of innovation, science and technology initiatives from concept through to implementation and handover.

Assist in the development of project plans, roadmaps and business cases that support emerging technologies and strategic innovation priorities.

Monitor project progress, schedules, budgets, risks and outcomes to ensure successful delivery and value for investment.

Evaluate innovation opportunities and support feasibility assessments, business case development and project prioritisation activities.

Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, industry, academia and government.

Prepare project reports, presentations and governance documentation to support effective decision-making.

Contribute to project governance, frameworks and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project delivery and innovation capability.

Support portfolio management activities, ensuring projects remain aligned with business objectives and strategic priorities.

Provide day-to-day project coordination and support to the broader Innovation & Improvement team.

About you

Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

2-3 years' experience in a Project Coordinator, Assistant Project Manager, Project Support or similar role.

Experience supporting project planning, scheduling, reporting, governance and risk management activities.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

The ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate multiple project activities simultaneously.

Experience preparing project documentation, presentations, reports and project updates for stakeholders.

Strong analytical and organisational skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using project management or reporting tools.

A proactive mindset with a passion for innovation, continuous improvement and problem-solving.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
