We are looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef – Pastry to join our kitchen brigade on a casual basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging pastry professional who loves working with fresh, seasonal produce and takes pride in creating beautifully presented food.
You will work alongside an experienced and supportive culinary team, developing your skills across pastry preparation, production and service while contributing to memorable dining experiences for our guests.
As a Commis Chef within our kitchen team, you will support the preparation and production of desserts, baked goods and other pastry items across the resort.
You will bring energy, curiosity and a genuine passion for food, together with the ability to stay organised and composed in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
This casual role offers flexibility, attractive rates and the opportunity to build your experience within one of Byron Bay’s most distinctive luxury resorts.

Assist with the preparation and presentation of desserts, pastries and baked items

Support daily pastry production and service requirements

Work closely with senior chefs to maintain quality, consistency and presentation

Use fresh, seasonal and sustainably sourced ingredients

Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness

Contribute positively to a collaborative and fun-loving kitchen culture

Support the wider culinary team during busy service periods
You are passionate about pastry and excited to continue developing your skills within a professional kitchen.
You will also bring:

Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, ideally within pastry

A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent experience

Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation

A positive, reliable and team-focused approach

The ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure

Flexibility to work across a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays

A genuine interest in fresh, sustainable and locally inspired food
