About the role

The Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides secretarial and executive administrative assistance to the CEO to support them in their role. Through providing efficient and professional service, this role is a key facilitator in ensuring the needs of internal and external stakeholders are responded to, and community expectations are met.

The Executive Assistant will assist the Department’s compliance with statutory requirements, Council policies, service levels and standards, through efficient and timely coordination of the CEO’s office.

Skills and experience require to perform the role

An appropriate tertiary qualification with some relevant experience or through lesser formal qualifications with substantial experience in providing dedicated administrative and secretarial support to a senior executive within a complex organisation.
Experience working within the Local Government Sector would be well regarded.
Experience in the development of office procedures and the use of processes to evaluate, monitor and track actions and follow-up of issues.
Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications and document management systems (e.g. Content Manager).
Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with an ability to discuss and resolve problems.
Demonstrated commitment to the provision of excellent customer service.
The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
The ability to liaise in a professional manner across all levels of Council and to maintain confidentiality of information as appropriate.
Ability to be adaptable and flexible.
Commitment to continuous improvement with the ability to review procedures and systems and to recommend changes where appropriate.
Strong organisational skills, the ability to successfully manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines.
