13Axent is an electronic engineering company specialising in the design, manufacture, supply, and support of LED-based visual communication systems. We offer a superior level of expertise and service, allowing our customers to receive a bespoke product designed specifically for their project needs. From start to finish, we offer complete turn-key solutions from design, hardware to software, and onsite installation.

Operating for over 35 years and employing over 100+ staff, we have developed many of the systems which the bulk of Australians use daily, including and not limited to road systems, transit passenger and sporting displays.

Some of these include electronic speed signs in tunnels, school zones, service stations, car parks, sporting arenas, railway stations and throughout Australian roads.

Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Electronics Hardware Engineer to join our engineering team on-site at our Clayton facility. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in PCB design and embedded systems, who thrives in a collaborative and innovative environment.

Responsibilities:

Design and develop electronic hardware for LED-based systems using Altium Designer.
Develop and test circuits involving SMD LEDs, 4G/5G, BLE, and Xilinx processors.
Design and support solar and battery-powered systems.
Work with ATMEL SAM microcontrollers in embedded control applications.
Apply EMC design principles to ensure compliance, including layout, shielding, and filtering techniques.
Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and production teams to deliver robust and reliable products.
Participate in prototyping, testing, and debugging of hardware systems.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and best practices.
Maintain documentation for designs, revisions, and testing procedures.

Requirements:

Degree in Electronics Engineering or related field.
Proven experience in hardware design using Altium Designer.
Hands-on experience with SMD LED circuits, wireless communication modules (4G/5G, BLE), and Xilinx FPGA/SoC platforms.
Experience working with ATMEL SAM microcontrollers.
Familiarity with solar and battery-powered embedded systems.
Solid understanding of EMC design and testing.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Location: On-site in Clayton, Victoria
