About the role

The Employee Relations Advisor reports to the Manager Employee Relations and provides support and administrative assistance to the Employee Relations team, helping to deliver timely and practical advice to leaders and People & Culture stakeholders.

The role supports the team in delivering positive employee and industrial relations outcomes by assisting with the resolution of workplace issues, helping build leader capability, and contributing to the continuous improvement of employee relations practices, all under the guidance of an experienced team.

Key accountabilities:

Support the Employee Relations team by helping to provide practical, risk-based advice to leaders and People & Culture stakeholders on employee and industrial relations matters, including performance, misconduct, grievances, investigations, discipline, absence management and termination of employment.
Assist in drafting and reviewing employment-related documents, correspondence, briefing papers, submissions and reports for internal and external stakeholders, under review from senior team members.
Assist with the interpretation and application of enterprise agreements, modern awards, employment contracts, workplace policies and relevant legislation, and provide administrative support during the negotiation and implementation of enterprise agreements and other industrial instruments.
Support the coordination of industrial disputes, employee grievances, union engagement and right-of-entry processes, including maintaining registers, records and related documentation.
Assist with workforce change and other industrial relations initiatives by helping to identify potential risks and supporting consultation, communication and implementation activities.

What you'll bring to the team

Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, Law, Business, or a related discipline (or currently completing one).
Approximately 2 years' experience in employee relations, industrial relations, people advisory, or a similar role — recent graduates and those looking to start a career in ER are encouraged to apply.
Developing knowledge of Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act 2009 and National Employment Standards, with a willingness to learn how to interpret and apply legislative requirements in a practical workplace context.
Any exposure to workplace investigations, disciplinary matters, grievances, performance management, or other employee relations matters would be advantageous, but not essential.
