Primary objective
Coordinate and support the delivery of workforce programs, projects and initiatives that enhance employee capability, wellbeing,
engagement and inclusion, while providing project, research and stakeholder support to strengthen workforce outcomes and
organisational performance across the department.
Context Statement
The Strategy, Governance and Workforce Branch enable the department’s strategic objectives by providing governance leadership and
building a safe, capable, engaged and future-ready workforce. The branch assists the department to achieve its strategic objectives by
translating strategy into action, strengthens safe and ethical operations, builds workforce capability, attracts and recruits talent, supports
an engaged and inclusive workforce, provides governance leadership and ensures workforce alignment and future readiness.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of workforce programs, initiatives and projects that support departmental

priorities and strengthen workforce capability, retention, engagement, diversity and inclusion outcomes.
2. Coordinate and deliver workforce projects, events, workshops, communications and engagement activities, ensuring effective

planning, stakeholder participation and achievement of agreed objectives and outcomes.
3. Support the implementation and ongoing delivery of the department’s training program, employee wellbeing and culture initiatives,

and Social Club activities, including the coordination of events, training sessions and fundraising activities.
4. Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing timely advice, information and support

to facilitate the successful delivery of workforce programs and organisational change initiatives.
5. Undertake research and attend information sessions run by central agencies on workforce trends, emerging issues, challenges and

best practice approaches to develop briefing materials to promote and support workforce planning initiatives.
6. Maintain workforce program records and reporting requirements in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
7. Provide administrative and project support to the Workforce Programs Manager and contribute to branch priorities.
8. Follow service quality standards, internal policies, procedures, and legislative requirements to ensure high quality services.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and support the delivery of workforce programs, projects and initiatives, including planning,

implementation, monitoring and evaluation activities.
2. Well-developed organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate events and

activities, meet deadlines and deliver quality outcomes.
3. Effective interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with proven ability to build productive working relationships and provide

responsive support and advice to a diverse range of stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated ability to research, analyse and interpret information, identify emerging workforce issues and trends, and prepare

reports, briefing notes and recommendations to support decision-making.
5. High level communication skills with experience preparing reports and project documentation as well as ability to deliver information

session to a range of audiences.
6. Experience using workforce systems, databases, reporting tools and advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook,

Excel, Word, Power Point and Teams.
7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining a strong customer service focus.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, or project management or a relevant field.
