Great opportunity for an individual with highly developed administrative skills to join the Nutrition and Dietetics Department at Austin Health.

Administrative Officer Grade 2

Full time (part-time request will be considered), 30-38 hours per week, roster over 5 days.

Start date: available from 27th July 2026, ongoing

Work allocation is the provision of comprehensive administrative, financial, operational and customer service support to the Nutrition & Dietetics Department across all sites of Austin health.

Main location is Austin Hospital in Heidelberg, however, administrative support is provided to the Nutrition and Dietetics Department across all sites.

Pay rate: Administrative Officer Grade 2 (eg: HS21) $38.85 per hour+ salary packaging + superannuation

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across three campuses in the north-east of Melbourne and statewide. About the Nutrition and Dietetics Department

The Nutrition and Dietetics Department is part of the Allied Health division, which employs over 1,000 health professionals across 27 disciplines, broadly known as the therapies and sciences, who work as key members of the multidisciplinary team aiming to provide the best outcomes for patients via preventing, diagnosing and treating a range of healthcare conditions.

Our department has around 55 staff members across three sites - Austin (acute care), Repat (sub-acute care) and Talbot (rehabilitation), providing services to inpatients, outpatients and home & community programs. We operate as one department and come together for staff meetings and continuing education. Our work environment is vibrant and fast paced and we are a friendly and supportive team. We have many highly skilled and experienced dietitians who lead our clinical teams - specialist medicine, oncology, surgical/ICU/gastro, paediatrics and mental health, sub-acute and ambulatory care, and portfolios - staff education, quality, research, student training, food service, nutrition support and workforce operations.

About the Role

In this role, you will be the backbone of our Nutrition and Dietetics Department, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our service. You will provide reception, office management, financial administration, outpatient coordination and administrative support to a busy and dedicated team.

You will work closely with Dietitians and Allied Health Assistants and be primarily based at Austin Hospital, with occasional travel across campuses as required.

If you enjoy working independently, managing competing priorities and being part of a supportive healthcare team, this role offers the opportunity to make a real difference behind the scenes of patient care.

This is a full-time position; however, part-time applications (30–38 hours per week) will be considered. A five-day-per-week roster is required (Monday to Friday).

You are a highly organised and proactive administrator with excellent communication and customer service skills. You bring:

Significant experience in administration, reception and secretarial support

Strong computer literacy and attention to detail

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

Strong problem-solving skills and a flexible, collaborative approach

A demonstrated commitment to improving administrative processes
