As a Senior Insurance Claims Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting our Insurance Claims and ServicePlus team by providing high-level technical expertise, mentoring claims professionals and driving excellence across claims operations.
You will manage a portfolio of complex and high-profile claims, provide technical guidance and coaching to the broader team, support complaints and escalations management, and contribute to ongoing improvements that enhance member outcomes, service standards and operational performance. Through your expertise and leadership, you will help ensure our claims service continues to deliver fair, timely and member-focused outcomes.
The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced insurance claims professional to join a highly regarded team and influence the delivery of insurance services across one of Australia's leading superannuation funds.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical insurance and superannuation expertise to support the Claims and ServicePlus teams.
- Managing a portfolio of complex and high-visibility life insurance claims.
- Coaching, mentoring and training Claims team members to uplift capability and performance.
- Reviewing complaints, escalations and benefit payment approvals.
- Supporting quality assurance, reporting and governance activities.
- Providing input into insurance strategy, frameworks and product enhancements.
- Building strong relationships with insurers, administrators and key stakeholders.
- Identifying process improvement opportunities that enhance member experience, reduce decision timeframes and improve operational effectiveness.
- Acting as a subject matter expert on insurance-related projects and initiatives.
About you
You are a technically strong insurance claims professional with a passion for member outcomes, coaching others and driving continuous improvement.
You will bring:
- Five or more years' experience in superannuation claims administration.
- Five or more years' experience in life insurance claims.
- Demonstrated expertise assessing complex life insurance claims.
- Strong knowledge of superannuation legislation and insurance policy interpretation.
- Experience in relationship management and case management environments.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Experience coaching, mentoring and developing others.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- RG146 qualifications, with additional insurance-related qualifications highly regarded.
