You’re agile, keen and open to meaningful work and opportunities that come your way.
Your innovative mindset is key to creating solutions to complex problems. Our systems drive our organisational success and underpin every journey our customers take. This is your opportunity to be part of an expert team who build and refine seamless technology experiences.
In this role, you'll:
Work as part of a specialist cyber defence, risk, and resilience team delivering highly technical security capabilities across the Transport. This role is focused on the design, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of cyber security tools and platforms that enhance protection, detection, and response to cyber threats and technology risk.
You will act as a hands-on cyber engineer, responsible for implementing new security capabilities and continuously improving existing controls across areas such as security operations, threat detection and response, and cyber risk management. This includes configuring, integrating, tuning, and supporting security tooling, as well as developing repeatable processes, patterns, and technical standards to enable consistent adoption across agencies.
The role provides deep technical support and enablement to cyber and technology teams, including troubleshooting tools, improving operational processes, automating where possible, and building engineering patterns that uplift maturity and effectiveness. You will develop and maintain operational runbooks, engineering documentation, and implementation guidance to ensure sustainable delivery and scalable adoption of capabilities.
You will drive continuous improvement of cyber defence and risk capabilities by leveraging threat intelligence, operational insights, research, and engineering best practices to reduce cyber and technology risk. In a fast‑paced environment shaped by evolving threats and complex stakeholder needs, you will balance delivery and improvement, ensuring security tooling and capabilities remain effective, resilient, and aligned to organisational priorities.

About you
You bring a minimum of five years’ experience in cyber security, with at least the most recent two years in a hands‑on, technically focused role, where you have actively designed, implemented, operated, and improved cyber security tools and capabilities. You demonstrate a strong engineering mindset, advanced problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work through complex technical challenges in dynamic and regulated environments.
You are comfortable operating at both a deep technical level and across stakeholders, clearly articulating risks, technical options, and outcomes to technical and non‑technical audiences. You collaborate effectively with business, technology, and platform teams to ensure cyber solutions meet business requirements, integrate with existing enterprise platforms, and deliver measurable improvements in security and resilience.
Known as a proactive contributor and trusted partner, you use your technical expertise, analytical thinking, and continuous improvement focus to strengthen cyber capabilities, uplift operational maturity, and support the successful adoption of security tools and processes across the organisation.
