The Role
Reporting to the Moranbah Engineering & Reliability Manager, the Lead Process Safety Engineer will lead and continuously improve process safety on site to drive overall risk reduction. This role provides specialist technical support to all levels of site personnel and maintains the Major Hazard Facility Safety Case in compliance with Workplace Health and Safety legislation.
Role responsibilities include:
Lead process safety improvements by ensuring risks are systematically and comprehensively identified, assessed and treated to meet Corporate and regulatory risk standards.
Manage the systematic risk assessment and preparation of the Major Hazard Facility safety case to comply with Workplace Health and Safety legislation.
Establish processes for regular monitoring, interpretation and reporting of the Moranbah process safety and risk management system.
Engage, challenge and influence the process safety performance of the site by working collaboratively with diverse work teams.
Ensure process safety information is appropriately developed and maintained through good practice systems and ongoing improvements.
Lead effective project management of Systematic Risk Assessment and Safety Case development.
What you’ll bring
You must be committed to positively contributing to our safe, inclusive and high-performance culture.
Tertiary qualification in Process/Chemical Engineering or other related discipline that would otherwise satisfy Engineers Australia Chartered Professional Engineer status.
Experience in Process Safety Management or similar, ideally within a chemical manufacturing environment or Major Hazard Facility.
Experience and thorough understanding of advanced risk assessment and consequence modelling techniques.
Strong communication, analytical, problem solving and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence, lead sustainable change and deliver to deadlines.

The Site
This role is based at our Moranbah operations and works across both an office environment and process plant environment. The role may involve walking to and from plant areas, climbing ladders and stairways, and applying and maintaining applicable personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, steel capped boots, respirator, hard hat, ear protection and safety harness as per site requirements.
