Primary objective
In line with Tourism and Events NT marketing and communications strategy and through marketing campaigns, public relations,
content and social media programs, maximise awareness and consideration for the Northern Territory (NT) as a leisure travel
destination within Australia and New Zealand.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Formulate and drive, through research, insights and market intelligence, the strategies for the Northern Territory’s domestic

and New Zealand consumer marketing activity.
2. Manage the development, delivery and reporting of Tourism NT’s integrated marketing campaigns and public relations

programs in the domestic and New Zealand markets, collaborating across the marketing division.
3. Manage marketing budgets for programs in collaboration with the director for domestic marketing.
4. Manage and lead a high functioning marketing team to meet organisational goals and KPI’s efficiently and effectively.
5. Manage and negotiate with external consultancies or suppliers to coordinate activity and monitor performance.
6. Facilitate domestic marketing reporting procedures, including the development and monitoring of systems that track and

measure team activities and effectiveness against campaign goals, objective and budget.
7. Actively communicate marketing strategies, activities and goals with key stakeholders including within the broader NT

government, with Regional Tourism Organisations and tourism operators.
8. Develop and maintain relationships within the marketing division, Tourism and Events NT, Department of Industry, Tourism

and Trade and broader Northern Territory and federal government departments to ensure integration of all activity to drive
visitation.

9. Support the director for domestic marketing as required.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Extensive cross functional consumer marketing experience in a management role including budget responsibilities.
2. High level understanding of current consumer marketing and public relations strategy and practices to deliver against set goals

and objectives.
3. Strong conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to gather large amounts of information, effectively analyse and interpret

to deliver meaningful, strategic outcomes.
4. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with people

of diverse cultures and at various levels.
5. Extensive project management experience including the management of consultancies and contractors and the ability to

influence for positive outcomes.
6. Experience in staff management and leadership, including supervision, performance monitoring, mentoring and motivation.

Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in tourism, communications, business, marketing, and/or other related discipline.
2. Knowledge and understanding of the Northern Territory tourism industry, including major players and relevant stakeholders,

or the ability to obtain such knowledge quickly.
