Primary objective
Positive Behaviour Implementation (PBI) Coaches work within a Multi-tiered System of Support framework to build the capability of educators to
support the wellbeing and safety of students and maximise their educational outcomes. PBI Coaches will implement whole of school approaches
and use knowledge of wellbeing, safety and behaviour approaches to provide advice, coaching, mentoring and professional development to school
leaders, teachers and support staff. This position will primarily support school leaders with whole school and whole class interventions and will
work with colleagues to ensure effective plans are developed and strategies are implemented for children and students with diverse needs.
Context statement
Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Programs and Services (SWIPS) provides differentiated support services to reform inclusion and improve
engagement and access to learning for children, students and communities. SWIPS provides advice, guidance and support to clients and
stakeholders to ensure all children and students are welcomed into an inclusive learning environment and are able to engage effectively with
education and learn to their full potential.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Implement whole of school approaches and develop and deliver evidence based professional learning opportunities to teachers and support

staff in NTG schools to support children and students with diverse needs to engage effectively with education.
2. Provide professional leadership in wellbeing, safety, and behaviour approaches within and across regional teams, including supervising and

mentoring less experienced PBI Coaches, and collaborating with Professional Practice Leaders to inform practice standards, facilitate place-
based decision making and ensure cohesive and place-based service delivery.

3. Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide quality advice and best practice support to multiple schools in the
implementation of wellbeing and safety approaches with a focus on positive behaviour supports.

4. Foster positive partnerships with professional stakeholders and work collaboratively with regional services to shape strategic thinking to
promote and support delivery of effective whole school approaches to positive behaviour, wellbeing, and safety with fidelity.

5. Contribute to strategies and support for children and students with diverse needs, as directed and in response to Requests for Service.
6. Maintain effective communication with clients and colleagues through strong verbal and written communication skills.
7. Adhere to legislation, policy frameworks, guidelines, and practice standards and maintain effective records management of data analysis, plans,

reports, and case notes.
8. Engage in other duties as identified by the employer which arise out of the priorities identified by the department.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Recognised tertiary qualification in education, social work, psychology, speech pathology or occupational therapy, and full registration or ability

to register or obtain membership with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority, Australian Association of Social Work, Speech
Pathology Australia, Northern Territory Teacher Registration Board, depending on relevant profession.

2. Specialist knowledge, qualifications and experience with supporting children and young people with diverse needs and high-level
understanding of wellbeing, safety and positive behaviour practices and approaches and the implications to improving outcomes for children
and students.

3. Proven ability to lead and support the delivery of targeted behavioural intervention programs to improve educational outcomes for children
and students and play a key leadership role in team operations and high-level practice matters.

4. Exceptional organisation skills and experience to work effectively with other professionals as a member of a multidisciplinary team, with the
ability to prioritise and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities identified by the department.

5. Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills with a proven ability to communicate with influence in a variety of settings with clients
from a diverse range of cultural and social backgrounds.

6. Strong facilitation skills and ability to develop and deliver professional learning and information to educators and leadership teams in
collaboration with other SWIPS officers.

7. Demonstrated ability to interpret educational data and develop solutions to address the varying needs of clients and apply innovative flexible
responses to achieve outcomes.

Desirable
1. Membership with Australian Association of Social Work (for social workers) or Speech Pathology Australia (for speech pathologists).
2. Experience and/or training in positive behaviour approaches when working with children and young people.

Corporate conditions apply to this position with regular travel to schools in urban and remote areas by car and or light aircraft, including
